Investing in Our Community’s Future
The Kiwanis Club of Marietta has proudly established and contributed to several scholarship endowments over the years to support deserving college students in our community. These scholarships are made possible through our club's Flag Project, which places over 1,300 American flags in front of homes and businesses five times each year.
How It Works
Scholarships are awarded through a competitive application process.
You may apply for more than one, but must submit a separate application for each. Be sure to review each scholarship’s criteria carefully before applying.

TURNER-HOWARD SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This is a memorial scholarship established in 1988 by Mr. and Mrs. James L. Howard in memory of their late mothers, Mary Miller Turner and Ellie Morris Howard.
This undergraduate or graduate scholarship is available to a student who is entering or attending an accredited college or university AND who is either a staff member of the Cobb County Schools or the Marietta City Schools or who is a dependent of such a staff member. Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and character.
JANE AND EBBIE LANCE SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This is a memorial scholarship established in 1993 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation.
This scholarship is available for any high school graduate or equivalent who is committed to pursuing vocational/technical education at Chattahoochee Technical College and is not transferable. Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.
MACK HENDERSON SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This is a scholarship established in 1991 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation and renamed in 2024 to honor an outstanding longtime Kiwanian and Cobb County community leader Mack Henderson.
This scholarship is available to assist a teacher or student accepted into an accredited college or university who is pursuing a major or certification in the field of special education. Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and character, with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.
E.W. CHASTAIN SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This is a scholarship established in 1997 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation.
This graduate or undergraduate scholarship is available to a student entering or attending an accredited college or university AND who has been a member of a Kiwanis Key Club or Circle K for a year or more or who is a family member of a currently active Kiwanis Club of Marietta member. Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and character with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.
RAYMOND STEVE TUMLIN SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This is a memorial scholarship established in 2001 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation in honor of the late Raymond Steve Tumlin, Sr., a dedicated Marietta Kiwanian, business, civic, and community leader in Cobb County.
This scholarship is available to a graduate or undergraduate student entering or attending an accredited college or university (or military college or service academy) and who meets one or more of the following criteria:
- is currently a member of a Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis-sponsored youth organization; or
- who is the son, daughter, or spouse of a currently active Kiwanis Club of Marietta member; or
- will be attending a service academy or military college or who has been or will be participating in ROTC
MARIETTA KIWANIS FOUNDATION, INC. SKILLED TRADES SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This scholarship was established in 2024 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation and created to encourage applicants entering occupations in the skilled trades.
Applicants must be enrolled in and/or attend a certified trade skills program/school authorized by the Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission.
The scholarship may cover tuition or recognized associated educational needs, with funds still dispensed through the program or school.
Priority will be given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.
BILL “SCOOP” KINNEY JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This scholarship was established in 2006 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation in honor of Mr. Bill Kinney, the Senior Associate Editor of the Marietta Daily Journal.
This scholarship is available to a graduate or undergraduate student entering or attending any accredited college or university and who is pursuing a major in the field of Journalism.
Selection emphasis will be placed on academic performance with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta.
FOREVER REMEMBER SCHOLARSHIP – $2,500
This scholarship was established in 2010 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation to recognize those who are left behind.
This scholarship is available to a graduate or undergraduate student entering or attending any accredited college or university who is a dependent of a person who is either on active duty or employed in the reserve, or a veteran of the military, law enforcement, fire department, or EMT services. Applicants or their parents must reside or work in Cobb County with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.
The applicant agrees that verification of dependency may occur during the selection process. Emphasis for this award will be placed on the essay, character, and academic achievement.
This scholarship is available to a graduate or undergraduate student entering or attending any accredited college or university who is a dependent of a person who is either on active duty or employed in the reserve, or a veteran of the military, law enforcement, fire department, or EMT services. MARIETTA CITY SCHOOLS – GLENN GRAHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – $2500
This scholarship was established in 2018 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation in memory of “The Flag Man,” Glenn Graham.
The Marietta High School counselors will submit three candidates by March 15 for final selection by the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee. If no candidates are submitted, recipient may be selected by scholarship chairperson.

COBB COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT – FOUNDERS/BECK SCHOLARSHIP – $2500
This scholarship was established in 2018 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation in memory of the Founders of the Kiwanis Club of Marietta and Fred and Drucilla Beck who served as Secretary for 20+ years.
The CCSD superintendent or their designee will submit three candidates by March 15 for final selection by the Kiwanis Scholarship Committee.
If no candidates are submitted, recipient may be selected by scholarship chairperson.

SCOTT CHADWICK SCHOLARSHIP FOR EMERGING LEADERS – $2,500 (2 Awarded)
This memorial scholarship was established in 2020 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation in honor of former Club President and outstanding community servant leader, Scott Chadwick.
Applicants must be a graduate or undergraduate student entering or attending an accredited college or university. The recipient must be a Cobb County resident who has demonstrated the qualities of a servant leader through community service and support for one or more organizations in the civic, nonprofit, educational, faith-based, arts, military, or justice community.
JACK WILSON FIRST GENERATION SCHOLARSHIP – $2500
This scholarship was established in 2024 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation in honor of longtime Kiwanian, first-generation student, and beloved community servant Jack Wilson.
Applicants must be a graduate or undergraduate student entering or attending an accredited college or university. A first-generation student will be designated as a student with neither parent, or legal guardian, having earned a baccalaureate or associate’s degree from an accredited college or university. Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement, character, and essay regarding your life story, intended field of study/career, and how you will make an impact on the world. Priority will be given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.
